The Brookehaven goal, as it is with all serious breeder/exhibitors, is for each and every puppy to be a healthy Corgi of top quality. Proper breed type, a solid and loving temperament, health, and good structure are all of equal importance.

The purpose of this page is not to sell puppies. However, occasionally there are quality puppies available to approved and loving pet or performance homes.
Brookehaven puppies aren't born on a regular basis nor on any type of schedule, as litters are bred with hopes to produce a puppy to keep and to show. There are usually pet puppies available from these litters but a litter is never bred with the sole plan of producing puppies to sell. Prior to any breeding the parents of all Brookehaven puppies always have PennHip and/or OFA hip clearances in place, and also have their eyes certified clear of hereditary eye defects by a veterinary ophthalmologist.
Without exception, all Brookehaven puppies leave for their new new homes either already altered or upon a spay/neuter contract. With the latter, limited registration AKC papers are supplied after receipt of proof of spaying or neutering. A four year warranty against disabling hereditary defects is offered. Any Brookehaven Corgi, puppy or adult dog, which cannot be retained by his or her owner must be returned to its breeder.

All puppies are cute, and once you visit with a litter of Corgi pups you'll quickly find that they're nearly impossible to resist! But as the acquisition of a puppy is the start of a very long term commitment please take the time to investigate before you invest in a new member of your family. A Corgi is not suitable for every home or all lifestyles.
Along with educating yourself about breed characteristics, temperament, and outlook on life, also be fully aware of the possible health issues in Corgis. Always ensure that the puppy you are considering has parents who each possess hip and eye clearances. And never be afraid to ask for proof of these health clearances on the parents - view the certificates. Unfortunately all breeders are not created equal, and some of them will lie, either blatantly or by the simple omission of all facts, in an effort to sell their puppies. So remember, all puppies are cute... but not all puppies will have the same chance to be healthy, happy family members. Do your homework so you can get the best puppy for your situation, and walk away from a breeder who is unwilling for any reason to share health clearance certificates with you.
Be certain that the breeder of the puppy you're considering will provide you with a long term health warranty in writing. But do watch out for refund or replacement warranties that will require the return of your puppy or dog. Should your Corgi develop a health problem at 2+ yrs of age what are the chances you'll want to bring him back to the breeder in "exchange" for another puppy or dog? By then your Corgi will be - or most certainly should be - a beloved family member and the last thing you'll want to do is return him like an old pair of tennis shoes. Overall, a ''return the current dog for replacement'' type of warranty/guarantee is a useless one for you as a buyer and owner.

If you do nothing else at all before starting your puppy search, read the wonderful "Finding a Pembroke Welsh Corgi Puppy" article on Liz Myhre's Emrys Corgis web site. It will supply you with a true wealth of information about about finding and buying a puppy and also explain how to go about choosing a caring, ethical and reputable Corgi breeder. You'll read about the differences between pet quality puppies and show prospects, the health clearances both parents of the pup(s) should possess, what a contract should look like to adequately protect you as a buyer, what you should be seeking in a breeder, and that a reputable breeder will always give you a written long term health warranty/guarantee. Plus there's much, much more.
